As a republic, India is relatively young and therefore still in the process of creating infrastructure. Until the recent past the Indian economy was agriculture-oriented. The last decades has seen a major change in the from of industrialization, resulting in an explosion in urbanization.

This has caused a tremendous load on the existing civic infrastructure, thereby making it almost mandatory for the civic bodies to find better methods to carry their sewer maintenance programs.

Gone are the days when an abundant supply of unskilled labour was available to carry out these sewer maintenance programs such as Road Sweeping, Municipal waste and garbage collection and Transportation & Sewer maintenance manually. Education, legislation, awareness of health hazards, etc. has in fact created a tremendous shortage of relevant man power, thereby compelling civic authorities to automate their programs.
